The Bloomwalk
This isn’t just a botanical walk. It’s a full-sensory exploration of the Balkans’ oldest green memory, led by someone who speaks the language of both plants and people.
Step into the wild, where:
- Wild orchids mimic bees with ancient precision
- Millennia-old trees carry Thracian and monastic legends
- Medicinal herbs tell stories passed down by herbalists and grandmothers
- Limestone cliffs reveal fossils older than the Danube
You'll learn not only what grows but also why it matters — in healing, folklore, and survival.
Your Guide:
You’ll be led by a local botanist and ethnobotany specialist with over 25 years of experience studying and preserving the flora of Vratchanski Balkan.
Your Guide Will Teach You To:
- Decode the forest through plants, scents, and signs
- Safely identify herbs and their poisonous twins
- Understand how plants shaped local life and folklore
- See nature as a living story, not just scenery
Your Day:
🕗 8:00 - Meet at Vratsa Visitor Center. Briefing & forest etiquette.
🌲 9:00 - Enter forest trail. Start tracking floral "clues":
- Bark and leaf reading (tree age, health, habitat clues)
- Track orchids & herbs using soil, shade, and slope
- Folklore stops — tales of healing trees, sacred plants, and local superstitions
🧺 12:00 - Tranquil nature picnic:
- Wild herb teas
- Local village-sourced food, and seasonal produce
🍃 12:45 - Light activity during lunch break
- “Scent & Story”: pass around local herbs, guess the plant, hear its folklore
- Edible or Deadly? Quiz: identify safe vs. toxic plants
- Plant Lore Circle: bite-sized tales of healing, myth & mystery

How to Book:
- Express Interest via our form or email. We'll confirm expert availability.
- Secure your spot with a 15€ non-refundable deposit.
- Pay the remaining balance (40€) 5 days before the expedition.
Group Confirmation: We require a minimum of 4 participants to run the expedition. We will confirm the final status 7 days in advance.
Cancellation Policy:
- 7+ days prior: Full refund (minus deposit).
- 72 hours to 7 days prior: 30% refund OR 100% credit.
- <72 hours prior: No refund. Date transfer possible (10€ fee) only if we can fill your spot.
- We Cancel: Full refund or credit if we cancel due to extreme weather or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Bring: Sturdy boots, warm layers (even in summer), rain jacket, camera, patience, and curiosity.
