The Expedition
This isn’t just a walk in the woods.
It’s a journey into the invisible layers of the wild; where footprints whisper, branches speak, and every clue tells a story.
You’ll step into the boots of a field biologist as you:
- Follow fresh bear prints through ancient beech and pine forests
- Decode wolf trails along remote riverbeds
- Read wild boar wallows and red deer feeding grounds
- Learn how locals used bark, roots, and herbs
This is slow adventure: rich in detail, powered by curiosity.
Your Guide:
A career zoologist who’s spent decades in these forests, training rangers, writing field manuals, and tracking some of Europe’s most elusive animals.
He'll teach you:
- The “3D Tracking” Method: using tracks, scat, and disturbance patterns
- How to place and retrieve camera traps (footage emailed to you or recovered at another quest)
- Mapping sightings that help rangers monitor illegal activity and species movement
- Stories of the forest: ancient logging trails, bear folklore, and seasonal migration lore
Your Day:
🌌 7:00 - Depart Sofia
🦅 9:00 - Enter the Vitosha Nature Park: Introduction to reading “forest news”
🔍 9:30-12:30 - Full tracking session:
- Learn to spot fresh signs of wild boar, red deer, bears
- Practice interpreting scents, scrapes, and silence
- Visit ancient logging paths and Thracian-used clearings
🌲 12:30 - Riverside lunch with mountain delicacies
📜 13:30 - Camera trap set-up instruction
🧭 14:30 - Wrap-up: Camera trap review, DIY kit use, certificate presentation
🚗 15:00 - Return to Sofia
What You’ll Take Home?
✔ A tracking starter kit (ruler, footprint guide, natural notebook)
✔ “Citizen Scientist” certificate you can actually be proud of
✔ Real wildlife footage from your group’s camera trap
✔ A wild story few ever earn the right to tell
“You’ll begin to notice more in a single walk than most do in a lifetime.”
Is This for You?
✔ You don’t want a tour - you want to know the land
✔ You’re hungry for connection, not content
✔ You feel most alive beneath a canopy of firs and cloud light
✔ You wonder what it’s like to follow a bear’s path and not just hear about one
This is for people who still look for signs in the soil
Who feel something sacred in old trees
Who want to hear what the mountain has been trying to tell us
